Halloween Starts

Halloween is BIG here. We decorate early in preparation for the amazing amount of trick-or-treaters we receive every year. We have been averaging 800-1000. They neighbor next door does a Haunted House in his enclosed porch every year. It has been his tradition to do this since he was a kid in the 1950's. The whole nieghborhood gets into it. This year we went with a focus on spiders. Carl, my boyfriend, came over and helped make our web, spider egg sacks and of course our captured human.

This is the inside of the big window. It is our "Batmas Tree" as Emma so aptly named it.

We also invite friends over for tasty treats and of course tours in the Haunted House next door. We also love the extra hands for candy distribution. This is our dining area ready for our spread. This year I am thinking my homemade rolls with cold cuts (always good to fill the tummy for a long night of trick-or-treating), meatballs in warm bloody sauce, red bloody velvet cupcakes, and of course tummy warming apple cider.

This weekend the we all went to a couple of Halloween Parties. Here we are. My little Mummy, Dark Wizard, Stealth Ninja, and of course me.

VivaLaMode

I came upon this great e-zine through twitter today. That is a magazine but not in print. Only on the Internet. I loved it at first glance. It's nice to be able to get away in a good magazine and I love that I can do this just sitting at my computer.

October Etsy

I know I neglected to get a September pick out but here I am for October. This is one of my favorite months being that Halloween falls in it. Halloween is BIG at my Moms house, currently where the kids and I are living. The next door neighbor turns his enclosed porch into a scary haunted house. He has been doing it since he was a child with his father starting in the late 50's. Much of or town knows about it and many many come out. We average 800-1000 kids every Halloween. The whole neighborhood embraces the spirit and so do we. Decorating has started here this week and costumes are currently being made.

Now for my etsy pick. I recently made a Halloween style treasury. Check it out http://www.etsy.com/treasury_list.php?room_id=86901. I included my October pick, TwistedSisterArts. She and I have been chatting it up and I of course have admired her amazing creative pieces for a while now. She not only does cool eyeball pieces but also beautiful jeweled treasures. Take a look:
